The West Delaware girls’ golf team finished fifth in the 10-team field at the Class 3A State Golf Tournament at River Valley Golf Course in Adel.

Playing June 1-2, the Hawks shot 757 in only their second appearance in the state tournament. The Hawks shot 383 the first day and 374 the second.

Mia Peyton led the Hawks with183 (97-86). Ella Koloc was right behind her with 184 (93-91). Next Was Kennedy Klostermann 195 (99-96) and Morgan Collier 215 (114-101). Other Hawks competing were Maylin Coates and Erin Wegmann.

In the individual race, Peyton finished tied for 16th, Koloc tied for 20th, Klostermann tied for 32nd and Collier tied for 49th.

Washington won the team title with a 675 total, shooting 340 the first day and 335 the second.

Next was Gilbert with 703 (357-346), Clear Lake (389-356), Wahlert Catholic 750 (386-364), West Delaware, ADM 779 (397-382), Monticello 797 (402-395), Nevada 802 (403-399), Lisbon 812 (402-412) and Creston 824 (413-411)

Eden Lorhbach from Gilbert won the individual title, shooting 76 in round one and 73 in round two for a 149 total. Runner up was Kiki Bruner of Washington with 151 (77-74). Tying for third at 161 were Kaitlin Hotchkiss from Cedar Rapids Xavier (85-76) (and Meghan DeLong from Clear Lake (83-78). Tying for fifth with 163 were Nora Carlson from Humboldt (78-85) and Anna Nacos from Washington (80-83).

Clear Lake’s Rebecca DeLong (87-79) and Wahlert Catholic’s Katelyn Vaassen (86-80) tied for seventh with 166. Ashlynn Sporrer from Nevada shot 169 (83-86) for ninth and Creston’s Rylie Driskell shot 171 (85-86) for 10th.
