The West Delaware girls’ cross country team scored 228 points, good for 10th place at the Oelwein Invitational at Hickory Grove Golf Course, Aug. 31.

In their first meet of the season, the Hawks were led by freshman Josie McMahon, who ran 24:13 and finished 39th. Next across the finish line for the Hawks was Noelle Bardgett, finishing 42nd in 24:20.

Next came Faith Rich, 43rd (24:31), Emily Prier, 49th (24:41) and Grace Millenkamp, 55th (25:27). Abbie Kass ran 25:40, finishing 57th.

Denver won the team title with 38 points. Center Point-Urbana was second with 77 and Jesup third with 87. Next came Union (129), Decorah (150), Beckman Catholic (173), North Linn (180), Sumner-Fredricksburg (181), Central Elkader (211), West Delaware, Starmont (240) and Oelwein (355).
