Nathan Goranson placed 79th at the Class 3A State Cross Country Meet, becoming the first West Delaware boy to run in the state meet since Matt Monaghan in 2005.
The meet was held Nov. 2 at Lakeside Golf Course in Fort Dodge. Running in 40-degree temperatures with a 10 mile per hour wind, Goranson finished in 17:32.
West Delaware coach Dale Meyer was proud of Goranson’s effort. “This was an awesome experience for Nathan, running against some of the best runners in the state. He left everything he had on that course. I’m very proud of him for all he has accomplished at state and all season. With his work ethic, drive and all the lessons he has learned from cross country, I look for him to accomplish great things in the future.”
