I’m happy to have received the opportunity to join the Dyersville Commercial, Manchester Press and Cascade Pioneer as a reporter intern for the summer. I’m from Lake in the Hills, Ill., about the halfway point between Rockford and Chicago. I’m excited to get out and interact with the community and learn from everyone I meet.

I found my way to Iowa in 2018 when I started as a freshman at Loras College. Currently, in my junior year, I’m an English-Creative Writing major with minors in Business Administration and Spanish. I played baseball there my freshman year, and just recently started working for the student-run newspaper, The Lorian.

Writing has been something that I’ve always enjoyed, and what I like most about it is the art of storytelling. Getting the chance to tell a unique story is always exciting for me. I can’t wait to get the opportunity to participate in telling the stories of what goes on in Eastern Iowa and learning the history of the area.

This position will be a great, new opportunity for me to strengthen my writing skills while getting out and meeting loads of new people. I’m still unsure of what I would like to do after college, but I know that writing for these different outlets will be a beneficial experience for me.

When I’m not working or focusing on schoolwork, I spend a lot of time watching Chicago sports, listening to music, podcasts and comedy, and going on adventures with my girlfriend, Haley. I look forward to meeting people from throughout the community and hope to enjoy some great experiences with everyone through my writing.
