Richard Loyal Hebrink, Lamont, succumbed to lung cancer, May 21.

A family funeral service will be held Saturday, June 5 at 2 p.m. at the Lime Springs Community Center. There will be no visitation.

Rich was born June 4, 1953, in Charles City, the oldest child of Loyal and Charlene Hebrink. Rich grew up in the Lime Springs area, he attended elementary and middle school in Lime Springs and graduated from Cresco High School, the class of 1971. While in high school, Rich participated in football and basketball.

Following graduation, Rich worked in the farming industry from 1972 to 1998. He also worked as a logistic broker in the trucking business for about 10 years.

On September 7, 1974, Rich married Brenda Wesseling in Chamberlain S.D. They made their home in Lime Springs, until they moved to rural Lamont in 1982. Together they raised two children, Chad and Heather.

Richard loved his family. In his early years he played lots of softball and also enjoyed hunting. He enjoyed being outside gardening, tending to his lawn and enjoyed riding his Harley with Brenda and good friends.

He was a member of the Lime Springs and Lamont fire departments.

Richard is survived by his wife Brenda; son Chad (Angie), Magnolia, Texas; daughter Heather (Dustin) Tieskoetter, Grovetown, Ga., his grandchildren, Alyssa and Dylan Hebrink and Colin and Ryan Tieskoetter; sisters, Margie Pankratz, Phoenix, Ariz., Deb Malone, Apache Junction, Ariz.; and his brother, Kevin (Janet) Hebrink, Lake Mills. Also surviving is his father-in-law, Jim Wesseling, Parkston, S.D.; his uncle, Jerry Hebrink, Cresco and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Rich is preceded in death by his parents, Loyal and Charlene Hebrink and his mother-in-law, Berniece Wesseling.
