Two Manchester women are facing multiple felony drug charges after authorities seized approximately 151 marijuana plants from 460 South Brewer Street, court documents reveal.

Following the execution of a search warrant Aug. 5, Shayla Kae Cole, 26, Manchester, was arrested on charges of two counts possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to affix drug stamp and a controlled substance violation. Margaret Jean Nueton, 66, Manchester, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, failure to affix drug stamp and controlled substance violation.

According to court documents, authorities say they were contacted by a concerned citizen regarding a marijuana grow on the southeast corner of 460 Brewer Street. Authorities say they were able to observe the marijuana growth from city-owned property and surveillance photos later showed an individual tending to the plants.

During the investigation, authorities say Nueton admitted to knowing about the plants, claiming them to be “ditch weed.”

While executing the search warrant, authorities found approximately 151 marijuana plants still planted in the ground with several other stalks cut down prior to their arrival. There were also remnants of partially burnt marijuana plant stocks in a fire pit, authorities say.

Authorities also found two gem baggies with marijuana, three other gem bags with a liquid that tested positive for methamphetamine, 20 mostly used syringes and several marijuana pipes in a backpack belonging to Cole.

During the Aug. 5 search, a meth pipe and a bag of meth were located next to property belonging to Nueton.

A confidential informant also bought a gram of meth from the 460 South Brewer Street residence on March 17, documents state.
