A new preschool opening this fall at theStone Church in Manchester will offer a Christian-based program for 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds.

Stepping Stone Christian Academy is the idea of Samantha Fangman and her husband, Andy.

“This is something my husband and I have wanted to do for several years now. Our vision for a preschool aligned with theStone’s vision. We were able to come together and partner with theStone Church to open it. We just wanted to offer families and children in this community something a bit different.”

Fangman said that difference is the school’s Christian-based program. “We believe that God is an aspect of everything in our lives and we base our curriculum on that and keep that in mind.”

Fangman said the vision the couple had mirrored that of the church elders. “I would say it was an act of God that we came together and were able to move forward with this.”

All 3-year-olds will attend Tuesdays and Thursdays at a cost of $80 per month, while 4-year-olds will attend Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at a cost of $110 per month. There will be two classes each day, a morning session and an afternoon session. Enrollment is open to everyone.

Fangman said it’s too early to tell how many students will be enrolled. “We understand it’s new and is completely unfamiliar to our community. We know people will want to learn more about it, see the facility and want to meet me before they trust me with their child, which is completely understandable.”

She said classes will be limited to six students per class. “I want to be able to meet the needs of the whole child and I think in order to do that, I need to keep those class sizes small.”

Fangman expects to have an open house at Stepping Stone Christian Academy in late spring or early summer. For now, anyone with questions may call theStone Church at 563-927-2851 or access the website at thestone.life, where the mission of the preschool and the church, as well as a page on Fangman and enrollment forms may be found.

Fangman, who has a B.A. and three years of substitute teaching experience as well as home school teaching experience, said her classes will be balanced. “I designed this program to provide a really strong education while balancing that much-needed playtime and skill development for the age groups while providing a fun atmosphere with a Christ-centered program.”
