DelCo PaintCo opened a storefront on Main Street in Manchester earlier this summer. The new business is a painting service for residential and commercial customers.
Justin Elledge is the owner of the business. He grew up in Edgewood, graduated from Edgewood-Colesburg High School in 2007 and attended the University of Northern Iowa until 2012. Following college, he was in supply chain management. More recently, he was a senior buyer and in shipping and receiving for XL Specialized Trailers in Manchester.
“I had always wanted to start and own my own business,” Elledge said. “Hearing people over the years say they had a hard time finding people for various painting projects prompted this venture to jump to the forefront of possibilities for me, to be able to make a go of this.”
Since DelCo PaintCo announced it opened and was available for projects, business has been steady. Currently, he is booked into September with requests for quotes continuing to roll in.
“I’m very fortunate to be a part of a community that is so supportive of new businesses,” Elledge said.
The year 2020 has been wild, with a different obstacle every month. Opening a new business during these times could cause some hesitations, and DelCo PaintCo faced some of these decisions.
“I was unsure if this was the right time to start the business with everyone else’s health to consider,” Elledge said. “That has proven to not be an issue, though. I’ve been able to stay busy while assuring potential clients I’m willing to take whatever measures necessary to assure they are comfortable with me being around and completing their desired project.”
The only employees currently are Kelli Brink, who is the marketing/project manager, and Elledge himself.
“She has been extremely helpful in getting the word out about DelCo PaintCo while also assisting with things like quoting, answering client questions and various other office tasks,” Elledge said. “She’s even picked up a brush a time or two when it was a project I required a bit of assistance with. She’s a very valuable asset to this business in assuring everything runs smoothly.”
DelCo PaintCo has not yet set any limitations as to how far they would travel for a job. Their tagline is, “the premier painting service of northeast Iowa.” Elledge said he’d be more than happy to take a look at any job.
“Opening a business was a dream and because of support I’ve had from everyone in this area,” Elledge said, “they’ve helped me make this a reality. For that, I’m grateful. I’m just getting started and look forward to growing with my customers in the coming years.”
The business is located at 118 West Main Street in Manchester.
