Authorities: Intoxicated naked man found behind fire station

A Manchester man is facing multiple charges after police say he was found naked and intoxicated. He also assaulted a police officer while being booked at the Delaware County Jail.

Tyler John Wallace, 19, was arrested on charges of simulated intoxication, interference with official acts bodily injury, escape from custody and assault with intent to cause injury to a peace officer on July 15.

According to a press release from the Manchester Police Department, law enforcement responded to a call of a naked man lying on the ground behind the Manchester Fire Station.

Upon arrival, authorities contacted Wallace, who was giving “nonsensical and incoherent” answers to law enforcement, court documents state.

After concluding Wallace appeared to be under the influence, he was arrested and transported to the Delaware County Jail. During the booking process, authorities say Wallace was made aware that he was going to need to be cleared medically before jail staff would accept him, which led to him punching Sergeant Chad Wright in the upper chest, just below the throat, twice.

During the ensuing struggle, Officer Tim Montgomery also sustained minor injuries to this arm.

Authorities added that Wallace’s clothing was later found in front of the Castle Theater and the Blue Collar Sports Bar on East Main Street.

Wallace has an initial hearing scheduled for July 24.
