Authorities: Dubuque man attempted to entice Delaware County teen

A 31-year-old Dubuque man is set to be arraigned in the Iowa District Court for Delaware County Oct. 20 after authorities arrested him for sending illicit images and attempting to sexually entice a minor.

Joshua Kane Shaw was arrested on a warrant for charges of enticing a minor and two counts of telephone dissemination of obscene material to a minor Oct. 3.

Authorities say Shaw began having a text conversation on Nov. 23, 2019, with the then 12-year-old victim that was sexual in nature. Documents state Shaw wanted the juvenile to get a ride to Dubuque to see him and stay the night, with the intention of having intercourse.

Authorities say Shaw was aware of the victim’s age at the time of the conversation, at one point even telling the victim not to tell anyone about him “because he was grown and she was 12.”

Following that conversation, authorities say on two separate occasions in 2019, Shaw sent the victim a photo of his genitals.
