Jack was born in Manchester July 6, 1961, the son of Dr. Mary and Arthur Arends. Upon graduation from West Delaware High School, Jack went on to study at the University of Notre Dame. He spent his sophomore year of college studying abroad in Tokyo, Japan. After his college graduation in 1984, Jack returned to Japan and lived there until June of this year. Jack worked as a successful medical device salesman during his years in Japan and eventually became Country Manager for Japan for Zoll Medical out of Boston. He had an entrepreneurial spirit from a young age and also formed multiple companies during his career.

Jack was an enthusiast and had varied and diverse interests and a lifetime love of learning. He enjoyed the outdoors and frequently returned to Manchester to visit family and friends and to enjoy his favorite pastime of fishing and spending time in the outdoors around Delaware County. His spirit was pure, and he often defended the vulnerable. Jack especially loved using his intellect to debate and to make others laugh. Above all, he loved his children deeply and wholeheartedly and treasured his time with family and friends in both the US and Japan.

He is survived by his wife Sayuri, his children AJ, Hyatt and Hana and stepdaughter Ayumi, his mother Dr. Mary Lorenz, sisters Viv Arends, Jeni Thomas (Mike), Susi Gordon (Paul) and Teresa Cox (Pat) as well as his many nieces and nephews.

Jack is preceded in death by his father, Arthur John Arends Jr.
