The Delaware County Supervisors approved a 28E agreement with the city of Dyersville that, when implemented, will give Dyersville jurisdiction over county road X49 from 12th Ave SW to 1st Ave W.

The agreement, approved at the supervisors Dec. 26 meeting, states that Dyersville will assume responsibility for the stretch of road once the construction project is completed and Delaware County reimburses Dyersville the county’s share of the project costs.

The county’s share of the costs is projected to be $300,000 and was approved by supervisors at their meeting Dec. 10.

Currently the county and the city of Dyersville share major maintenance costs of the road, with the city handling snow removal, and work such as shoulder work being covered by the county.

Construction plans call for grading, the addition of culvert extensions and other work. Dyersville officials expect bids to be let in May with the project beginning in the summer of 2019.

The city of Dyersville will also place a roundabout at the intersection of Tegeler Pond.
