New details emerge after death certificate released in Earlville homicide

Authorities have released the death certificate of a woman who was allegedly murdered in a rural Earlville farm building last month.

According to recently obtained documents, officials with the Iowa Department of Public Health are saying Amy Lynn Mullis, 39, was “assaulted by another person(s)” and are listing the manner of death as a homicide.

Documents additionally state the immediate cause of death was “sharp force injuries of torso.”

At the time of Mullis’ Nov. 10 death, authorities initially stated she had been injured in a fall and later died as a result of her injuries.

In a press release Dec. 7, authorities reported that following an autopsy by the State Medical Examiner’s Office, the manner of death was being considered a homicide.
