Colesburg man arrested on sex abuse charge

A Colesburg man has been arrested after authorities say he attempted to sexually assault a woman several times in early August.

Douglas John Hermsen, 57, of Colesburg, was arrested for sexual abuse third degree Aug. 8.

According to court documents, on Aug. 2, the alleged victim reported that Hermsen had inappropriately grabbed her and attempted multiple times to kiss her on the neck and mouth. The victim also stated the Hermsen had exhibited similar unwanted sexually aggressive behavior in the weeks prior.

Court documents state that Hermsen admitted to the sexual contact between him and the victim.

Hermsen posted a $10,000 unsecured bond and has a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 20. A judge has appointed Hermsen a public defender and issued a no-contact order between him and the victim.
