The West Delaware baseball team has put together a very impressive 111-12 record over the past three years. During the summer of 2007 the Hawks posted a record of 39-3, culminating with a Class 3A State Championship, the first in school history.
BJ also has some impressive numbers at the plate. For his career he is hitting .457 with 35 doubles, 2 triples, 33 home runs and 141 runs batted in. He has struck out just 35 times while drawing 61 walks.
He will join good friend, Brent Warren of Cedar Rapids Xavier who also signed to play with the Beavers.
Oregon State signed 11 players during last Wednesday’s early signing period.
Four of the players are ranked in the top 100 by Baseball America; Hermsen 16th, Niko Vasquez 49th, Brent Warren 73rd, and Ryan Gorton 93rd.

“BJ was the only right handed high school pitcher we recruited,” said Oregon State Head Baseball Coach, Pat Casey. “He is ranked as one of the top pitching prospects in the country. He has great size and is a tremendous athlete. We are really excited about him.”
The Beavers have won the last two NCAA Division I Baseball championships while compiling a record of 97-33.
