WRESTLING WRAP-UP WITH COACH JEFF VOSS |
The 2006-2007 wrestling season is i the books and will supply us with many great memories that will be talked about for several years to come.
We began the season with a good nucleus of returning wrestlers and several individuals who had a lot of potential but hadn’t yet proven themselves as varsity wrestlers.
This seasons journey proved to be one that in the end was very successful for several individuals, and our TEAM.
I was very pleased with the progress of our junior varsity wrestlers. Several of these young men will have an opportunity to compete for a varsity spot next year. I am confident they will be ready.
Records for our JV kids this year were - Adam Mossner 23-4, Nick Ronnebaum 14-1, Nick Trenkamp 21-1, Dylan Brooks 19-9, Jacob Meyer 2-1, Bryan Hansen 13-8, and Aaron Chapman 17-10. Great job Hawks.
Our varsity team finished 16-4 in duals and won two tournaments this season, including the WaMaC Tournament Championship.
Individually we had 11 wrestlers win at least 25 varsity matches and qualified seven wrestlers for the state tournament.
Varsity records for the year were - Zach McCool 40-0, Chris Harbaugh 27-9, Steve Broghammer 32-9, Paul Broghammer 26-9, Adam Rave 27-10, Tyler Manternach 32-13, Nick Ketchum 26-12, Nathan Vaske 35-7, Nick Ronnebaum 4-11, Carl Broghammer 28-15, Zach Boss 13-7, Pat Soppe 7-24, Chris Ketchum 24-18, and Brett Yonkovic 25-15.
Our teams success this season is a result of the great leadership our senior class gave to this team. Every senior on this years team can be found on the “Wall of Fame” in the wrestling room.
Zach McCool - four-time WaMaC Conference champion, four-time state placewinner, and State Champion; Chris Harbaugh - state qualifier; Nate Lahr - state placewinner; Steve Broghammer - state qualifier; and Paul Broghammer - WaMaC Conference champion.
The coaches and teammates are very grateful for their dedication to the wrestling program over their four year careers.
Coaches Scott Litterer, Pat Phillips and Kris Lenz deserve a lot of credit for this years success. Our coaching staff was selected as “Class 3A Coaches of the Year”.
These three coaches really deserve it. They dedicate a lot of time and energy to our wrestling program. I feel very fortunate to have these great coaches involved with our wrestling team.
Finally, our team would like to thank all the members of the West Delaware wrestling FAMILY for their support all season long. The support form the wrestling FAMILY means a lot to the coaches and wrestlers. I would like to thank everyone for all the great memories from this past season. We will begin our journey toward next season today and hope for another great wrestling season next year. |
