West Delaware sophomore basketball player, BJ Hermsen was named to the Iowa Newspaper Associations Class 3A third team all-state team.

Hermsen had an outstanding year for the Hawks averaging 16 points, 9.9 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game. He also had 48 steals and 41 blocked shots.

West Delaware girls and boys get track season underway

With the 2005-06 basketball season just concluding it is time for the Spring sports to get underway and that is just what happened last week.

Both the West Delaware girls and boys track teams participated in indoor competition during the first week of track season.

On Monday night the West Delaware girls team ran at the WaMaC Conference Indoor Meet at Cornell College in Mount Vernon.

The boys followed suit on Tuesday night running in the boys portion of the WaMaC Meet in Mount Vernon while finishing out the week at the Dickensen Relays held in the UNI Dome.

There were no team scores kept at the WaMaC Conference Meet.
