| The annual battle between the West Delaware Hawk and the Maquoketa Valley Wildcat basketball teams took place in Delhi last Saturday night.
No matter what the records or rankings are they can be thrown out when these to teams get together for their annual girl/boy double header.
With none of the four teams being over dominate the anticipation was for some good old hard nosed basketball. And for the fans that stuck it out for a little more than four hours, that is what they got.

As thrilling as the game was it seemed to take nearly forever to come to an end.

A packed house was treated to a 53-17 Hawk victory on the mat and a very fine Light Show put on by the grade school kids.
The Light Shows, put on a number of times during the winter sports season are directed by Mary Jane Fetter. With the performance that the younger kids put on Thursday night there is no doubt that they will be very entertaining in the years to come. |
On the mat the Hawks dominated the younger Trojans 53-17.
The Trojans had just two seniors and one junior in their line-up along with seven sophomores and two freshmen.
The Hawks won the take-down battle 12-8, six of the eight Trojans takedowns came at 119-pounds where senior Sergio Gutierres defeated Hawk freshman Jason Lux.
