The Hawks Katie Murphy delivers a pitch during a game this past summer. Murphy was named to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 3A 1st Team All-State Team. Murphy was a junior this past season and like all-state teammate Katlyn Heiserman she has one more year remaining in a Hawk uniform.

Ed-Co’s Tiffany Kruse (#46) is safe a second while the Katlyn Heiserman (right) waits for a throw from a teammate. Kruse was named to the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union Class 1A 1st Team All-State while Heiserman was named to the Class 3A 3rd Team All-State. Kruse was a senior this past year and will be continuing her athletic career at Luther College in Decorah. Heiserman was a junior last year and has one more year remaining with the Hawks.

Action from Silver Bowl 2006
Hawks, Vikings and Wildcats get ready to open the 2006 football season
All the camps are done, all the pre-season scrimmages are history so now its time to strap on the pads for real.

All of the area football teams will open their 2006 season this Friday night.

The 2005 Class 3A State Runners-up, West Delaware Hawks will open the 2006 campaign on the road at highly regarded Dyersville Beckman.

The Hawks opened the season last year with a 41-21 win over the Blazers on Brown Field and will be looking to get the 2006 season off to a good start this Friday night in Dyersville.

The Hawks second game of the season will be a home contest against the Sabers of DeWitt Central.

The Maquoketa Valley Wildcats will travel to Jesup this Friday night for their season opening game.

Game two for the Cats will be a home contest against a very good Starmont Star who was 9-1 last year.

The Wildcats were 3-6 over all last season while finishing fifth in their district.


West Delaware senior runningback, Brad McDonald breaks through a nice hole during the varsity scrimmage.
They will be looking to improve on that mark during this years campaign.

The Ed-Co Vikings are coming off an 8-2 overall season record in 2005 in which they made it to the first round of the state playoffs.

The Vikings open their season with a tough game at Starmont before playing their first home game on their new field, Friday, September 8th against Rockford who was 1-8 last year participating in Class 1A District 3.

The Vikings are up a class from Class A in 2005 to Class 1A in 2006.
