Chapman receives second at state bowling

The West Delaware Hawks traveled last Thursday to the first newly sanctioned boys state bowling tournament in Des Moines at Plaza Lanes.
After winning their district and earning the highest score statewide the Hawks were pleased to have the opportunity to compete at state. The Hawks were in third place after the individual round, but unforunately the boys were not able to put it all together and scored a 2933 total.
West Delaware placed seventh out of 11 teams, Dubuque Wahlert won the team event with a 3193 followed by Red Oak with a 3149.
The Hawks did have two individuals who placed in the top 10 qualifiers for the tournament. The top individual honors went to Taylor Mellot from Red Oak with a three game series of 753, AJ Chapman of West Delaware placed second with a 736 and Colin Funke tied for ninth with a 656.
The Hawks were led by sophomore AJ Chapman with a 524 series (257-267) followed by Colin Funke 484 series (249-235), Trevor Werner 356 series (171-185),

Colin Funke received ninth place and AJ Chapman second place at state bowling last Thursday in Des Moines.

Burton LeClere 356 series (169-187) , Zach Pasker 343 series (169-174) and Thomas LeClere 281 series (145-136). The five baker’s games were 185,157,148,188 and 192.
“It was a good season and we were very pleased to win our district and compete at state. We will miss our two seniors, however we look forward to our underclassman and incoming freshman to round out our team to be very competitive again next year,” stated Coach John Chapman.
