Hawk boys take 5th at Bobcat Relays

With the season coming to a close in the next couple weeks, the West Delaware boys rack team keep steadily showing improvement, with 14 competitors marking either season best or personal best at the Bobcat Relays on Thursday in Epworth.
Earlier in the week, the boys traveled to Marion. No team results were submitted, but top finishers for the Hawks included Ben Lechtenberg who placed second in the 400 M Hurdles with a time of 56.74, and Adam Rave, who took fifth in the 100 M Hurdles with a time of 16.51. Ben McDonald also grabbed a fifth place spot with a time of 11.72 in the 100 M Dash.
At Western Dubuque on Thursday, the Hawks kept their momentum headed in the right direction, scoring 59 points and taking fifth place.Lechtenberg took first place in the 400 M Hurdles with a season best 56.71. Second place finishers inckuded Nick Trenkamp in the shot put and Adam Rave in the 110 M High Hurdles.
“We had a nice night to run. The kids really performed well,” stated head coach Tom King.
The boys continued in action on Monday at the WaMaC meet at Beckman. Districts will be held Friday at Marion beginning at 4 p.m.

WD boys staying strong on golf course

The West Delaware boys golf team has been strong all year and there aren’t any signs of giving up anytime soon.
On Monday, April 28, the boys traveled to Beckman for the WaMaC Invitational and returned home taking only a backseat to Central DeWitt, who took first. Chris Crawford finished the meet with a 39 which put him in second overall. Jon Sill wasn’t far behind with a 41.
The boys returned home on Wednesday for a triangular with Anamosa and Vinton-Shellsburg. The Hawks took first in that meet with Anamosa finishing second and Vinton bringin up the back. Jon Sill and Matt Walters were co-medalists for the meet, both shooting 39s.
A trip was made to West Union on Thursday for a triangular meet wiht North Fayette and Oelwein. Once again,the Hawks landed on top and could enjoy their bus ride home with another first place finish under their belts.
Three Hawks shared the title of medalist for the day. Chris Crawford, Matt Swartz and Jared Zebuhr all shot 40.
The Hawks will play in the WaMaC Super Meet on Tuesday in Marion and will host Sectionals in Manchester on Friday, May 9.
