Hermsen, Hood compete in Senior Shootout

WD seniors BJ Hermsen and Ashley Hood recently competed in the senior shootout held at Benton Community High School in Van Horne.
Seniors from the WaMaC Conference took on players from the SICL (South Iowa Cedar League).
The WaMaC won both games. The boys’ score was WaMaC 109 - SICL 91. The girl ended up WaMaC 94 - SICL 58.
BJ Hermsen scored 12 points in the WaMaC victoy and Ashley Hood added 15 for the girls.
Hermsen was also the winner in the dunk contest.
Leading scorers for the boys were Drew Campbell of Indee (19). Tim Kelly of Columbus (22), Ian Lebeau of Marion (12), Justin Meier of Columbus (13), BJ Hermsen of WD (12).

Hammerin’ Hawks claim championship |
The Hammerin’ Hawks 13U volleyball team, the Black Attackers, hosted a tournament in Manchester on March 8 and walked away with the championship.
