21 WD wrestlers compete in ASICS USA National Folkstyle tourney

Twenty-one wrestlers from West Delaware competed in the ASICS USA National Folkstyle tournament this past weekend at the UNI Dome in Cedar Falls. Sawyer Amling, Jake Voxx and Carl Broghammer all finished the tournament as All-Americans. There were 2600 wrestlers from across the United States competing for national championships and All-American honors at this event and all of the WD wrestlers competed well.
Wrestlers and results were as follows:
Ryan Phillips, Bantam 50; Mitchell Mangold, Bantam 60; Mason Steffen, Novice 75; Zach Meyer, Novice 80; Connor Wickman, Novice 90; Brent Lammers, Novice 100; Patrick Woods, Schoolboy 70; Sam Phillips, Schoolboy 70; Zach Less, Schoolboy 77; Beay Vaske, Schoolboy 77; Jordan Smith, Cadet 84; PC McEnany, Cadet 105; Alex Steffen, Cadet 112; Alex Rans, Cadet 160; Nathan Vaske, Junior 135; Brett Yonkavic, Junior 145; Nick Ketchum. Junior 160; Chris Ketchum, Junior 160; Carl Broghammer. Junior 215, All-American 5th place; Sawyer Amling, Novice 70, All-American 7th place; Jake Voss, Novice 85, All-American 5th place
 

Vikings, Wildcats compete at J-Hawk Invite

Both the Maquoketa Valley Wildcats and Ed-Co Vikings boys traveled to Independence last Monday to compete in the Jesup J-Hawk Invitational. MV had another strong showing, placing 2nd out of 16 teams. Pictured, top: Cody Recker sprints towards the finish line during MV’s 4x200 first place showing. Middle: An Ed-Co runner battles with a Wapsie Valley and a Jesup runner right at the end line of the 100 M Dash last Monday in Indeependence. Bottom: Andrew Jay takes the baton from Tanner Ellison during the 4x200 relay race in Indee. The Wildcats 4x200 team finished 1st with a time of 1:35.11. Ellison also won the 400 M Dash.
